Unlikely Beauty

What happens when you look beyond what something is—and begin to see what it could become?

These artworks began in an environment that few would instinctively associate with fine art: an industrial location, filled with functional surfaces, structures, textures and details.

For me, however, it was an invitation to look more closely.

Working from captured details and extreme close-ups, I began to isolate fragments of colour, texture, light and form that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Removed from their original context, these fragments became something entirely different—the raw ingredients for expressive, painterly abstractions.

The creative process is intuitive. I respond to what I find, allowing composition, colour and movement to emerge through experimentation and digital construction. The original source becomes increasingly detached from its industrial origins until what remains is an artwork with its own visual identity, energy and emotional presence.

That transformation is central to my practice.

I have always been fascinated by the possibility of finding beauty in unlikely places. A weathered surface, a fragment of machinery, a mark, a reflection or an incidental detail can become the starting point for something compelling when viewed through a different lens.

The finished works are vibrant, dynamic and richly painterly. They carry little trace of their origins, yet the character of the source remains embedded within them—a reminder that extraordinary visual possibilities can exist almost anywhere.

For me, the challenge is not finding beautiful subjects.

It is seeing the beauty and potential that others might overlook.

And once that possibility has been discovered, the creative process begins.
